My fellow Nigerians, What corruption has done to this country, I wonder if nigeria will ever be the way it was in the 70's when nigerians dont really no much about corruption.
I travelled to be to pay visit to my relative at Stella Obasanjo hospital benin city. From my view the hospital is one of the best hospital in nigeria. The facilities in the hospital is amazing. But the thing that baffles me is the management, it is very poor, they are consigned about what they will make for themselves than how to sustain the hospital.
Government made some treatment for children are free like malaria etc, free antenatal for pregnant women I think that is very kind of the government, But there one thing that is very sad which I think the Government is not aware and I believe the management of the hospital is doing it to make money for themselves is the issue of food. If you are admitted in that hospital, management has mandated it that you must pay for the food, is a must. Seeing the food alone you do not need to be told that you don't need it or you will fall sick. If hospital is mandating patients to buy food from the hospital, the food should be palatable and well prepared that in-fact should be the best prepared meal. But instead they mandate you to pay for it if you like it or not and obviously you wont eat and 90% of the patients in the hospital don't eat because it looks worse than food given to prisoners. You are mandated to pay N500 per day. So if you are admitted for 2 weeks or 1 month then do the math to know how much bill it is just for food alone and guess what, hospital bill is not expensive but the bill going to private pocket is what is touching. I am confident that government is not aware, it is shady deals that the management is doing. During payment a receipt has been designed to make it look official they call it DIET bills.
The money you'll pay settling this diet bill of a thing is bigger than the hospital bills. I want Edo State Government to stop this heartless people, we should make life easy for one another not difficult because of greedy heartless and corrupt people in government.
When you visit a white man's country, you'll be amazed with what you see because they make life easy but in nigeria the reverse is the case.
